It Is Time To Plan For 2012

Fall is here and Halloween has come and gone. It is time to start planning for Thanksgiving and if you haven’t started already it is also time to start planning for your Real Estate Business in 2012! In order to be successful next year it is extremely important to plan ahead. Remember your business plan is not set in stone but should be used as a guide over the course of the year.  Throughout 2012 you should look back at your plan to make sure you are on track and make necessary changes to your game plan if need be. I learned that when planning for your business it is also important to include personal goals as well since the two go hand-in-hand. Your plan should have meaning to you and be something that inspires and motivates you throughout the year. Over the next few weeks I will be writing about planning your business for 2012. I encourage you to follow along and complete the exercises I suggest. By the end you will have your plan for next year!

The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don’t define them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with them.

I suggest starting your plan by reflecting back on the current year. Ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Reflecting back to 2011
    Reflecting back to 2011

What was my original goal for the year and where will I finish?

  2. If I’m ahead, on track, or behind, what are the specific reasons?
  3. What were the biggest mistakes I made and the lessons I learned?
  4. What changes occurred in the market and what did I learn from

    them?

  5. What were my most effective lead generation sources in my business?
  6. What time management, productivity enhancing techniques did I implement? What results did I experience?
  7.

What did I resist and what did that cost me? Why did I resist it?

  8. What new actions did I do that I’m grateful for?

Now that you have reflected on 2011 let go so you can start 2012 with a fresh perspective! The next section will cover goal setting for 2012.
